In India, the concept of Consent is distorted. The youth’s understanding of consent comes from what they hear in the Bollywood movies. Phrases like ‘Hassee Toh Phasee’ (If she smiles she’s trapped) and ‘Na mein bhi haan hain (There is a yes in her no) have fostered a misconception that ‘no’ is just another form of invitation. This has led to a culture of molestation and rape.

Solution:
Working with the Government of India and the National Curriculum Framework, Durex created the Consent Curriculum - an all-age, all-gender curriculum dedicated to teaching students about consent. It included new ways of reaching out to students. That meant everything from visual aids, podcasts, comics, murals, and even a Bollywood-style music video. Durex even got celebrities who were once a part of the problem to become advocates.
