ABOUT
I was commissioned to create some reconstruction illustrations to accompany a series of Key Stage 2 educational materials for teachers, based on the Bronze Age settlement site at Must Farm.
The illustrations were to show a cross section of houses in the Must Farm settlement showing structural and environmental detail as well as possible activities that would have taken place during its 3 main phases; construction, occupation, and destruction by fire. Alongside this were vignettes relating to the site but taking place elsewhere such as hunting and farming, and a modern scene showing stratigraphy of the site 3000 years later.
Having worked on the original evaluation, excavation, and post-excavation of the site this project was even more special and enjoyable for me. It was an amazing opportunity to work on something creative for inspiring future generations of archaeologists.
The resources and films, developed in partnership by Cambridge Archaeological Unit, Ancient Craft - Dr. James Dilley and myself were funded by the UKRI Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs) Award, Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and supported by the University of Cambridge, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research Cambridge Archaeology and Historic England
