When (re)creating this ceiling lamp for IKEA Portugal I focused on the duality between opposites: light/shadow and black/white. I used the lamps light as a way to accentuate the pattern's reflections (matte vs gloss) that being more organic would contrast well with the clean and circular shape of this piece.
I created graphic elements that transmit a sort of "organised chaos", inside and out. I added some black beads inspired by the crystal chandlers, to give the lamp a extra kitsch look making it an edgy statement piece.
My aim was to create something with a relatively easy (to do at home) technic that I hope inspires people to create and show some love to those old (not so cool anymore) objects they have lying around the house. My piece, alongside Kruella's and Ian Yurisch's is on show at IKEA Loures until the 15th of June 2022.
