ABOUT

Performance created for my exhibition "The steady hands of a busy mind" - Lugar da Cultura / Livraria Barata

Video and live performance at the exhibition.

In collaboration with the Rhythm Tap Movement Vanessa Teodoro interprets the busyness of the human mind through an American tap dancing performance ‘Busy feet.’
The dancer Paula Cirino plays the inner voice, camouflaged in between patterns. These graphic elements represent all the experiences that we pick up through life. Our inner voice can be either fast paced or of a slower tempo, but in both cases it incessantly keeps up its ‘tuc tuc tac’.
The viewer is invited to reflect on what we really see when we stop and analyse our own mind. We are inspired to question whether this voice is autonomous or if it is just a hostage of all the preconceived notions and rules we collect through life. Camouflaged in chaos, but always present, that is if we are willing to listen.
