ABOUT

Concept

UX Academy students worked on a real client brief for Welfound, a referral-driven talent marketplace. The objective was to redesign the company-side experience for screening shortlisted applicants and managing candidate communications.

The team needed to help hiring managers understand candidates quickly, compare shortlisted applicants and follow recruitment progress without relying on disconnected emails, documents and spreadsheets.

Execution

The team conducted four exploratory interviews with UK hiring professionals. They organised the findings through affinity mapping, documented their assumptions and open questions, and prioritised potential features using an impact-effort matrix.

Research showed that hiring managers scan CVs quickly, find it harder to choose between final candidates and often manage information across multiple systems. The students explored two principal concepts: a candidate-comparison tool and a feature for highlighting relevant CV criteria.

After concept testing, the comparison tool was retained, while the CV-highlighting concept evolved into concise candidate summaries based on user feedback. The team also refined navigation, applicant filtering and action controls.

Results

The project produced a reviewed company-user flow, applicant-screening interface, communication-management interface and tested prototype.

The final design enabled recruiters to review shortlisted applicants, compare leading candidates side by side and make decisions without creating a separate comparison spreadsheet.
