"Fashion photography meets the full potential of multimedia in the images of Korean art director Junu Ahn, born in 1983, who compares the fashion world to a "liquid landscape" that can be molded and modified.
Whether it be graphics, videos or multimedia design, the primary characteristic of his artistic universe is the exploration of the space that separates media. Like in his latest fashion film for On Pedder and CL, directed by Ahn in collaboration with artist Laurent Segretier.
Digital distortions and developements make his figurative story intangible, multiform and poetic, while the media commixture has the effect of extending reality and providing a kind of "augmented perception".
His intervention makes his subjects appear bizarre and unnatural, ghosts of models and garments whose identity blends one into the other, in a continuous tension between integrity and decomposition.
Junu Ahn seems more interested in the potential of limits, rather than in the utopic presumption of digital perfection. His computerized choreographies become "gateways to the infinite" that offer a view that attempts to go beyond the traditional representations of fashion photography."
