ABOUT
University of the Arts London (UAL) produces over 6,000 job-ready creative graduates each year. UAL Showcase supports these graduates to connect with employers worldwide. The UAL Content team were tasked with producing a series of brand films to promote UAL Showcase to the creative industries, led by a hero narrative film that brings together the scenarios featured across the campaign.
A key focus of the storytelling was to illustrate the problem-solution journey of a diverse range of prospective employers and creatives using Showcase - the problem being an absence of creativity, and the solution being our graduates.
The hero film features four scenarios, each presenting a creative challenge: an empty gallery; a theatre without a set or performer; a photography studio with no clothing; and a graphic design studio with no designers. In each, a main character turns to Showcase to find the solution to their problem.
The platform is accurately represented to demonstrate its functionality, featuring real student profiles available on Showcase. VFX transition the audience from the digital interface into the physical world, where empty spaces are transformed as emerging UAL talent brings each environment to life with real work, skill and imagination.
Shot entirely in UAL locations and featuring only UAL staff, students and graduates alongside their work - the film celebrates the breadth of creative disciplines available on Showcase. From performance and set design to photography, fashion, graphic and UX design - the hero piece positions the platform as a vital link between the creative industries and the next generation of talent. More than a directory, UAL Showcase is presented as a creative community that enables collaboration, employability and discovery.
