Tziporah Cohen Self taught

ABOUT

The school wanted to design and implement a project that taught the girls throughout the course of one month different good character traits to learn and practice. The theme I chose to do was a baking theme.

The theme was broken up into 4 seperate weeks:
Week 1: Breakout
Each class at the beginning of the day was given a choclate coated baloon that looked like a cake. A girl was chosen to come up to 'cut and distribute the cake to her class mates' only to actually pop the ballon and find in the middle a message to introduce them to theme as well as a hint to the final big project.
then aach girl n the school was handed out recipe cards. 1 with a poem written to talk about the chosen character trait, ingrediants and small copy of the hint to the big final project they were going to do at the end. Each class needed a seperate design to suit and peom to suit there understanding.
On that day a big wall display went up in the main hallway with a big chef who every week introduced the new character trait and menus for each lass to place what they had been given that week (it was added at the beginning of each week.) We then went on to make a special tuck shop with all baked goods (donated by parents) for the girls to get the full bakery experience (and to educationally handle money).
Throughout the week the girls were given cupcake tokens by the teachers that they could contribute to a class raffle every time they practiced or behaved with the good character trait taught that week. This raffle was the reward policy in each classroom throughout the month to be drawn at the end for a prize.
Week 2 the school and the inside of each classroom was decorated like the inside of the bakery. the girls were so excited when they came n to discover what each classroom looked like and there was a whole new excited and uplifted spirit in the school. The girls then went on to build design and decorate thier own recipe boxes to put all thier recipe cards and hints in. Once they finished their boxes they got a new character trait recipe card poem and another hint to the big final project.
Week 3 the girls got more hints and a new character trait poem all of this whilst still aiming to collect more tokens to be put in the prize draw. The challenge for the week was to collect all the ingrediants to be able to bake for thier big project.
Week 4 each class was revealed thier hint and what thier final project was. Each class had to then found the time to bake thier specific baked good and decorate it.
Nusery made clown faced cookies
Reception made lego biscuits
Year 1 made ballerina marshmellows
Year 2 made panda doughnuts
Year 3 made monkey cupcakes
Year 4 made mini dog cupcakes
Year 5 made sunflower cupcakes
Year 6 made cheese cake.

At the end of the week each class drew thier prize raffel for 3 winners top prize being a cool apron.

The whole school had such fun with this project it was a positive way to boost togetherness and motivation from the staff and pupils. It was a different way to control the class and teach them good character traits with support and fun. It was a success.
