I am writing to you today to submit my application for the Graphic Designer position at Profiles Creative. I have a distinct interest in print and publishing, and as an illustrator and designer I see this position as both an excellent outlet to implement my art and design skills as well as a way to further explore the production aspects of publishing
Having spent time as a self employed freelance illustrator and designer I bring with me an understanding of the unique artist/designer/director dynamic, as well as an experience working with the intensive required deadlines. I have self published several books as well as a variety of self-promotion materials, through which I have practiced an understanding of page layouts, pacing and creating functional as well as creative design. In the studio I have a diverse skill set that include a variety of both digital and traditional medium. Having worked as a self represented illustrator I have experience in working with the business aspects of the career including creating and negotiating contracts, mailings and billings.

During my time as the Assistant Residential Coordinator for the Maryland Institute College of Art I honed my supervisory skills as well the understanding of the ways and challenges that come with working as a go-between with creative types and business/administrative types. While in this position I also worked in an office setting on a daily basis and as such am familiar with many office duties such as working with databases, submitting regular reports and regularly addressing both internal office and public relations concerns.
