Mosaics of creative excellence - #AnnualSpotlight

Published by

The first time we laid eyes upon Charis Tsevis's work, we knew we'd found something incredibly special and unique. For some reason that still escapes our best guessing exercises, Charis loves mosaics and has founded a whole, entirely personal style around them.

Fast forward a year later and we're still not sure how Charis pulls them off this nicely, but he does; and the Bronze prize he won in Annual 2020 for his CGTN project is some exceptionally good measure for his success.

In this Annual Spotlight we are travelling from Queen's Gambit to a Money Zoo, from Kintsugi to sports, exploring the unique and quite mesmerising style of Charis Tsevis below.

Annual 2021 submissions are open until 27th May. Find out more on our Annual Awards page!

What feels unique about The Annual?

It’s a community thing! And that’s really something.

How does it feel to have won the Creativepool Annual Awards?

It’s always nice to feel appreciated by your colleagues and the whole creative community.

Will you be entering again this year? If so, what are your hopes?

Why not?! What are my hopes? I don’t really mind getting an award. My aim is to be part of this creative pool

Can you tell us more about your winning submissions and what you think impressed the judges?

It’s not very easy to try to explain the judges’ opinion. What I would like to hope is that they could see some original and something sincere on my work. Something made with love and dedication.

What advice would you share with other agencies and individuals looking to grab a prize?

To be themselves. To create something true, something meaningful. I believe that this is if not the winning formula, something that always communicates a real message.

How do you feel Covid has impacted the creative landscape in 2020?

Covid made a lot of things complicated and stressful but at the same time made all of us rethink our work, our mission, our business model but also our values.

*

What are your hopes for 2021 and beyond?

Just to keep creating and enjoying life with all positive and negative aspects.

What is your most exciting project in the next year? How will your victory in the Annual give it a boost?

I really cannot say. I have signed NDAs... :-)

What I can really say is that being an active member of the international creative community always pays back. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But it’s always a positive thing.
