Working with Alan Yau, we built a pub's website that allows the customers to control the space. The Duck & Rice sets out to revive the institution of the pub, with a uniquely Soho spirit.
As digital partners across Alan’s upcoming fleet of high-concept restaurants, we meshed mobile innovation and architectural design to create location-based digital engagement experiences for The Duck & Rice's online and on-site visitors.
The Duck & Rice is built on the region’s bloodlines of music and multi-culture. It was birthed in the husk of legendary Soho music hive ‘The Endurance’ - known as a bit of a dive that happened to have a great jukebox. In-line with Alan’s philosophy of retaining and refining cultural pearls, we created theduckandrice dot com to drive a digital jukebox that invites visitors to select tracks to play in the pub using their mobile devices. Playfully coined ‘Duckbox’, this feature offers a changing collection of tracks, many inspired by local Soho record stores.
We also built a digital installation behind the bar indicating the Duckbox’ current track. The display and music playlist app are available as applications for everyone to install on their own devices.
