I chose David Carson for my designer project because his work challenges traditional design rules and prioritizes emotion over perfection. Carson’s approach to typography and layout feels raw, expressive, and intuitive, which resonates with me because it allows design to communicate feeling rather than just information. His work reminds me that design doesn’t always have to be clean or orderly to be effective—it just has to be honest.

When creating my design, I focused on embracing imperfection and letting the content guide the visual choices instead of forcing everything into a rigid structure. I experimented with type placement, scale, and negative space to create movement and tension, similar to how Carson’s work often feels layered and spontaneous. My goal was to capture the essence of his design philosophy while still maintaining enough clarity for the viewer to engage with the message.
