The Cenoté stool originates from a concept that explores how powerful natural spaces found deep in the earth can influence the form and materiality of refined, purposed, manmade objects. The natural presence of oxide on the surface of Corten Steel is perfect to reflect the presence of oxide in rocks found deep in subterranean places, occurring only in nature and can be found to have an immeasurable beauty. The Cenoté stool contains elements of these spaces, re-defined and re-purposed to present themselves in an object of furniture that tells a story of shadow, materiality, and mass.
