Totom Construction High Wycombe

ABOUT

For Man vs Baby, Totom built a full London penthouse interior for the Christmas comedy series starring Rowan Atkinson. The set needed to feel expansive, high-end, and believable on camera, while being constructed entirely within a studio environment.

The penthouse was built inside OMA Studio X as a complete, self-contained apartment. The layout included a double-height living space, a sweeping staircase with an upper landing, a feature skylight, a fully fitted kitchen, and a hotel-style lobby.

Architectural scale and proportion were key to selling the illusion. Columns, arches, and wall panels were designed to give the space weight and permanence, while scenic finishes were used to recreate marble, stone, and metal detailing without relying on real materials throughout. We’ve explored this in more detail in our blog How We Built the Man vs Baby Penthouse, which looks at the construction and scenic techniques behind the set.

Once construction and finishes were complete, the apartment was dressed to feel like a real London home at Christmas, softening the architecture and bringing warmth to the space. By the time filming began, there was little to suggest the penthouse was a temporary build.
