About me

Torquil was born in Glasgow in 1966 and started working in the motion picture industry as a camera assistant, working his way up through the ranks of the camera department to become a DoP/Lighting Cameraman in 1994. He is also an experienced steadicam owner/operator, camera operator since 1997 and has also worked as a Camera Supervisor on various live/broadcast music, festivals and sporting events.

Torquil owns and operates a GPI PRO steadicam with a Preston Cinema Systems digital wireless lens control.

Between 2003 and 2007 Torquil worked extensively worldwide as a front line FPA cameraman for international press organisations such as AP, AFP, BBC, CNN, CH4, ITN, NTV, SNTV, and WTN, covering various conflicts such as Kosovo, Afghan War, 9/11 WTC, Gulf War 2, Pakistan earthquake, and the Lebanon/Israeli War, whilst still working on feature films, music videos and commercials.

In 2008 Torquil hung up his flack jacket and has recently been based between London and Ireland.
