Tony's work
About Tony
Dear Sir/Madame,
My name is Tony Paskins, I am a 23 year-old university graduate. I completed my three year course studying English Language and Communication with Geography in May 2014 and I will graduate in September 2014 with upper second class honours (2:1).
I am seeking employment in a role whereby I can utilise the various skills I have developed through studying my university course and I feel that working for an established company such as yourselves would help me improve my skills further. I have always had a passion for studying the English language and global geography and studying English Language and Communication with Geography at university enabled me to develop my research and analytical skills covering a wide-range of topics. Additionally, I was able to continually improve my writing skills and style as a result of writing various reports ranging from intercultural interactions between people in different countries, to profiles/reports on particular countries (such as Angola) and cities (Tysons Corner in Virginia, US). I have always had a strong interest of current affairs (both international and national) and studying Geography at University allowed me to study and analyse various factors resulting in economic growth of global cities and the factors that draw transnational corporations to locate in a region and the factors that draw people to either live or work in global locations.
After completing various research projects at university that required carrying out research reports and presentations with a group, I have become a confident team worker as well as an individual worker. Working as part of a group enabled me to develop my communication skills through contributing and listening to ideas from other group members which provided me with different perspectives on how to approach tasks.
My current role as a supervisor at the retailer Clintons has provided me with the opportunity to further develop my communication skills through continual interactions with both my team members and customers. I am responsible for detailing to my team the various tasks that need to be carried out for the day and providing information on the daily store sales target for the day and how to achieve the target (such as discussing offers available for customers). Additionally, my interactions with customers requires me to engage with their needs to find the product best suited for them and any potential alternatives. I am also responsible for running the store independently for various periods of the day, including the opening and closing of the store and carrying out the start- and end-of-day opening and closing procedures - such as cashing up and balancing tills, and ensuring the shops security upon entrance and exit.
I would bring much enthusiasm, passion and eagerness if I were given the chance to work for you.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Paskins
