The starting point

New Waves, Who Dis? was the UK YouTube production company Tom co-founded with Sam Hilton. A year earlier it had produced Niko's I Pranked America's Most Racist Man, the most watched video Tom has worked on. Niko is a British prankster with about 9 million YouTube subscribers. JiDion is an American prankster with about 8.5 million. Dexerto reported on 22 March 2023 that the pair had about 13 million subscribers between them at launch. Niko said the series had been nearly a year in the making.

What Tom did

Tom was the producer. The series is filed in his record under Produced, Format and strategy, and Talent supplied. In his words: "Episode one of the series ended with my talent being arrested by French police at the Mona Lisa." His lesson from it: there is a line in prank content, and knowing where it sits in each country is the producer's job.

How it was made

The format. A head to head. Each creator sets the other a challenge, and the one who cracks loses. Every episode opens on the same line: this is a series where I've done crazy things with the other country's biggest prankster. The same device opens JiDion's episodes, with Niko as "the UK's biggest prankster".

Two channels, one series. The trailer went out on JiDion's channel and sent viewers to Niko's for episode one. Episodes one and two ran on Niko's channel. JiDion's first episode tells his audience to go and watch them there. Niko's channel carried episodes one, two, six and seven. JiDion's carried three, four and five. A new episode landed every two to four days.

The episodes, in release order.

Episodes one and two are confirmed by the videos themselves. Episodes three to seven are numbered here by release date.

Episode one, the Louvre. Niko challenged JiDion to sneak a painting of himself in beside the Mona Lisa. Niko had done the same stunt himself in 2022. The first attempt failed at security, and the team planned a second. The frame was taken apart and carried in by several people. The painting went up. Security stepped in. JiDion sent the crew out so they would not be caught. French police took him from the Louvre and released him the next morning. YouTube's most replayed moment is the painting going up, from 9:42 to 10:12.

Formats that had already worked. The series reused stunts each creator was known for. The Louvre episode repeated Niko's own Mona Lisa stunt. The WWE episode follows SNEAKING Into KSI's Boxing Match (In the ring), the 2022 Niko video New Waves, Who Dis? also made. White is Right… runs a US edition of Niko Debates Live on JiDion's channel.

The finale. We Ruined An Award Show sets up an entire fake award show to prank one person.
