About me

I wanted to be a vicar and a professional rugby league player. Neither really worked out very well.

After studying theology, I lost my faith and broke my leg. But I got a lucky bounce: An apprenticeship at Sky Sports led to me living the dream of any young British male - being paid to watch sport for a living. I started out in the BAFTA winning Rugby Union broadcast team and then hit the jackpot by being moved into the entertainment division, working on the award-winning Soccer AM as a producer & features director. During this time at Soccer AM, the show became the most highly viewed entertainment on Satellite Broadcast and won the coveted TRIC (Television & Radio Club) award.

In 2004 and in the grip of wanderlust, I decided to give it a go Down Under. After brief stints in film production and visual FX, I fell into advertising with Sydney's BMF. It was, and still is, a great agency and provided the best foundation in strategy possible. From there, it was off to the Monkeys, and then Droga5.

After 10 years in Sydney, I really wanted to be able to moan about the weather again, so I moved back to the UK and joined adam&eveDDB as planning partner and then got the opportunity to be head of planning too. I was privileged to not only lead strategy globally for Sony Mobile & Virgin Atlantic, but also the pan-European strategy for Sony Consumer Electronics, and was the domestic lead on the Foster's & Marmite business. During my time at adam&eveDDB, the agency won Agency of The Year an incredible 3 times, and was named Cannes Creative Agency of The Year too.

In 2016, I returned to Australia as Chief Strategy Officer of Ogilvy Sydney. Since then, we've gone on to be awarded Digital Agency of the year by Adnews, Agency of the year and Best place to work by Campaign Asia.

Oh, and we ended up as WARC's #18 most effective agency in the world too.

Throughout my career, I've won APG awards, Effies, 2 Gold IPA effectiveness awards and the IPA grand prix for effectiveness.

I am still waiting to be awarded an illustrious 'Dad of the year' mug.
