ABOUT
In this short film, World Sidecar Champion Stan Dibben, recounts the thrills and perils of his profession.
This is the story of an 87 year old man, who won World Sidecar Championship in 1953. He was the 'passenger' riding in the sidecar. He explains how the word 'passenger' is such a misnomer for the bravery and athleticism required to do such a skilful occupation. The film features footage from his racing days, including the biggest race of his career, The 1953 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa - which he won by a wheel's length, to be crowned world champ.
But this is also a story about joie-de-vivre.
Stan gets back in a modern sidecar at the ripe old age of 87 and does a few laps of the Oulton Park circuit, just to show that he's still got it.
