At the time of writing these lines this large-format video artwork remains in the shooting process and will be finished in July 2023. These samples are frames of a movie.The author has photographed (and continues to do so) the evolution of the vine without any intervention, 24 hours a day, to compose a unique work whose interim result is the film editing in progress. It is a visual poem. More than being a movie, it becomes a moving photography that shows reality from a new perspective through the distortion of time, which perhaps is the ultimate subject of the work. In this contradicting perspective, the observer´s experience is confronted by a seemingly immobile, if albeit alive, vine. Let the reader judge for themselves. Technically, Tempranillo is a movie composed of 35,000 high-quality digital negatives, individually developed one by one and designed to be projected on a very large screen. Perhaps, besides the shooting, the most labour-intensive task is being the experimentation during the postproduction process until the desired flow of frames is finally achieved. It is important to point out that the distortion of time is linear and faithfully reflects the reaction of the grapevine to external stimuli, conferring it, apparently, with a will of its own.
