ABOUT
Cricket turned #RedforRuth on Saturday, July 25 to help support families facing the death of a parent to cancer through the work of the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
To mark the occasion, Ocean turned all of its digital out of home screens across Manchester red during a 60-minute take-over just before play begins at Emirates Old Trafford.
Using social media channels, the Ruth Strauss Foundation offered supporters who tagged #RedforRuth the chance to be selected and featured alongside celebrities on the outdoor screens.
Ten second adverts supporting the charity are also appearing on Ocean’s network in six UK cities including Manchester, London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow.
The Third Test of the #raisethebat Test Series versus the West Indies was called The Ruth Strauss Foundation Test.
Funds raised went towards the Ruth Strauss Foundation’s mission of providing pre-bereavement support for families facing the death of a parent from cancer, and drive much-needed research into non-smoking lung cancers.
This was the second year cricket turned #RedforRuth. Last year, 28,500 spectators supported the charity at Lord’s during the second Ashes Test to help raise more than £550,000.
The Foundation was founded by former England captain Sir Andrew Strauss in memory of his wife.
