Trunk Speaker, this is one speaker from a set designed from various tree trunks of different sizes and shapes. They were part of an installation to highlight the deforestation problems which riddle south America, playing a sound track to help demonstrate the problem to the public, giving the forrest a voice. I striped and sanded the wood before slicing the massive 15 inch wide trunk into discs. The middle is hollowed out and a cylindrical plastic tube is fitted through the middle of the trunk to allow for the speaker itself to resonate. I wanted to use wood and technology forged together to highlight and reflect the impact of man on modern forests.
