ABOUT

I never classed myself as a lyricist, but on this occasion I pushed the boat out (no pun intended). This post is all about the writing and the idea behind it - nothing to do with the visual. The brief was to raise awareness of safety at sea, encourage fishermen to wear their PFD (Personal Flotation Devices). So, as ocean fairing burley men who like a good sing song, what better way to deliver this message than a good olde sea shanty. I research the many superstitions that are associated with the fishing industry and incorporated them so I could counter act any fear with some sound advice - always wear your PFD. I approached the Cornish Shanty Singers based at Port Isaac who were willing to record the song (for free), which in turn would of helped raise the message via PR. Sadly although the client like the song and the idea we never quite got this one launched!
