A roundup of the most important news of the week in the advertising awards world.
CSS Design Awards
The CSS Design Awards has announced the finalists for the Website of the Year 2016.
Among the finalists are some projects that have already won countless awards this year, like “Because Recollection” for Because Music by 84.Paris or “Collapse: The Division” for Ubisoft by BETC Paris.
The selection also includes many personal portfolios and agency sites, such as the acclaimed redesign of Resn website.
ANDY Awards
This week was announced that Pete Favat has been named the 2017 Chairman of the International ANDY Awards.
The North America Chief Creative Officer of Deutsch will be the President of the Jury of the 2017 edition.
As Chairman, he plans to make some changes in the jury selection.
“I think it’s time that the award shows expand outside of advertising agencies. We’ve become very insular in the way we look at award shows. I say Vice and Buzzfeed are our competition. I’m not really overly concerned about J Walter or McCann or BBDO. I’m more concerned about companies like Buzzfeed and Vice. I wanted to make a point of putting those types of companies on [the jury], so that’s a first. I do believe that there’s a lot of great content being created outside of what you’d say are traditional ad agencies. I wanted to open up that.” he said.
Midas Awards
The Midas Awards has released the shortlist for its 2016 edition.
Australia, South Africa, Canada, UAE and USA are among the most represented countries in the selection.
AdFest
AdFest has announced that Ted Royer will be the Grand Jury President of the 2017 edition.
This comes at another prestigious accolade for the Droga5 creative after being named the most creative people in advertising in 2016 by Business Insider.
