ABOUT

The challenge
In haematology and oncology, the science is complex. The stakes are deeply personal.

For Emmes, a global full-service CRO, the challenge at the ASH Conference was to communicate its clinical research capabilities, including its AI-powered Veridix platform, while bringing the focus back to what matters most: the people whose lives depend on progress.

In a sector where technology, data and scientific expertise often dominate the conversation, we saw an opportunity to put something else at the centre.

Humanity.

The idea
Make the people behind the science impossible to overlook.

We created a campaign built around more than 45,000 individual headshots, bringing thousands of human faces together to express a simple truth: every clinical trial represents real people, real experiences and the possibility of a better future.

Rather than relying on familiar pharmaceutical imagery, we used the collective power of individual portraits to create a visual statement with both scale and intimacy.

The result was a campaign that made the human dimension of clinical research visible. One face at a time, the bigger picture emerged.

The execution
The campaign's visual identity placed human portraits at its heart, using their scale, texture and individuality to create an immediate emotional connection.

The headline, Every journey starts with a personal story, gave the imagery its meaning. Supporting copy established Emmes' full-service CRO capabilities in haematology and oncology, alongside the role of Veridix AI in accelerating Phase I–IV trials, enhancing precision and supporting smarter decisions.

It was a deliberate balance: scientific credibility without losing sight of the people behind the data.

The result was a distinctive conference presence that brought Emmes' expertise and human purpose into the same frame.

The thinking
Clinical research is often described through processes, protocols, endpoints and data. All essential. But none tells the whole story.

Behind every dataset is a person. Behind every trial is the possibility of changing someone's future.

By bringing more than 45,000 faces into one campaign, we gave that reality a physical presence. The number created scale. The individual portraits created connection. Together, they made the human purpose of clinical research impossible to separate from the science itself.

Because progress isn't measured in data alone. It's measured in what that data makes possible for people.

The outcome
A campaign that connected Emmes' scientific capability with its human purpose, creating a clear and memorable message for the ASH Conference.

More than 45,000 faces. One reason to keep moving science forward.

At The Mission, we believe the strongest life sciences brands don't just explain what they do. They help people understand why it matters.
