European footballing giant Barcelona is renewing its image with a rethink of the iconic crest design and an official introduction of a nickname regularly used by fans.

The new logo, created by Spanish consultancy Summa alongside the club’s in-house design team, sees the FCB initials dropped with the new crest being easier to produce across digital channels.

The intention is to better convey Barcelona’s values and attributes as a global powerhouse and the strategy adopts two overarching expressions. FC Barcelona relates to the footballing nature of the institution, whereas the term Barça promotes it
