The brief required us to recreate an old sailing ship sinking in a terrible storm. Drawing on the skills of local production designers and set-builders who had worked on blockbuster series like ‘Blacksails’ we constructed a life size deck of an old Galleon and mounted it on a giant gimbal. Battered by wind machines and massive water tanks the storm battering its crew assumed a frightening realism. To complete the picture these images were intercut with stock footage of an old ship sinking. As this material was only available in black and white the footage was hand coloured in post.
