We originally thought of the idea for Stiksy, over a year ago now back in Jan 2013. Running our design studio full time, meant actually following through with the idea was going to be a big challenge indeed! As designers and creatives ourselves, and having already setup our own business, we’re always thinking up new, fun and creative business ideas as possible side projects, just to play with and mix our daily tasks up!
By no means, is our main business not fulfilling, hard challenging work or rewarding! For us, the thought of having a successful creative side project that gives exposure to some of the awesome designers and illustrators we are otherwise unable to give work to, has always been a goal.
With so many, creative start-ups, products, apps and publications out there, some may think the gaps in the market are quickly filling up. In lots of cases, however, this extra competition can only fuel and assist another persons idea – if unique enough. For us, the main reason we started our creative sticker boutique was because we simply couldn’t find one with a varied and high level of artwork.
We’ve still a little way to go yet before our creative fun side project launches, but we’re getting closer by the day. Hard work, long nights and a whole heap of admin and we should be there!
