ABOUT
With the introduction of contactless payments, cash transactions are increasingly rare making it important for organisations like RBGE keep pace with this change if they are to increase the amount of donations they receive. Working closely with RBGE, The Port initially created concept designs for a new bespoke donation units for the Edinburgh Garden. These were well received and led to The Port Creative being invited, via Public Contracts Scotland, to tender for supply of new RBGE donations units. We were delighted to have been awarded the contract and successfully designed and build of two donation units; one to be located inside the John Hope Gateway and the other to be outside at the East Gate.
These new donation units proved to be exceptionally successful with visitor donations rising by over 500% since the units were implemented.
RBGE were keen to capitalise on this success by commissioning another two units; one to be located in the Dawyck Botanical Garden near Peebles and the other in Benmore Botanical Garden, Argyll. The illustrations and graphics were recreated to reflect the horticulture and wildlife in each new garden. We also adjusted and upgraded our design to improve access to cash collection box and for easier maintenance. Although the current pandemic has limited visitors to the gardens, both units have generated much interest with encouraging amounts of donations being made.
