ABOUT
When you’re launching a programme that blends innovation, technology, and academic excellence, explaining the value clearly without overwhelming your audience is no small task. That was the challenge behind Horizons, a government-funded SME support initiative backed by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered in partnership with the University of Liverpool’s Virtual Engineering Centre, Liverpool John Moores University, and Edge Hill University.
Our job? Create a compelling visual identity for the programme that would cut through the jargon, capture the attention of local SMEs, and bring a complex offering to life — all in under 90 seconds.
To raise awareness and encourage sign-ups, we developed a visually rich animated film that introduced the Horizons programme in a way that felt smart, friendly, and forward-thinking.
At the heart of the concept was a futuristic robot guide, a charismatic character designed to lead viewers through the animation, explain the benefits of the programme, and bring a sense of warmth to otherwise technical subject matter.
The animation broke down the programme’s services into clear, digestible moments. Everything from the visual language to the storyboard structure was designed to demystify technology and remove friction for the viewer.
We ensured the animation perfectly aligned with Horizons’ visual identity, while pushing it further to create something truly memorable. The robot became more than a mascot. It was a symbol of progress, guiding SMEs toward a more innovative future.
The film was embedded on the Horizons website as the hero asset, serving as a dynamic introduction for visitors. It was also promoted via the programme’s LinkedIn presence, driving wider engagement among the business community. Not only did the animation exceed client expectations and enhance understanding of the initiative, it also increased excitement and confidence among potential participants.
The client praised the piece as a spot-on execution of the brief, commending its clarity, creativity, and seamless brand alignment. More than just a marketing tool, the animation has become a key part of the initiative’s identity, helping to spark engagement and drive uptake across the Liverpool City Region.
