ABOUT
AI – 'artificial intelligence' makes me uneasy. I worry that analog photography may be fading; thankfully, Silver-Gelatin B/W handprints last for ages...
Shooting on film is similar to that of an artist staring at a blank canvas pondering a masterpiece –brushes, paints and palette are the tools requiring dexterity to bring 'to-life' what was imagined at first. Similarly, a photographer is a mechanical-artist who crafts his film (our canvas), mixing both camera & lenses (our brushes), 'bringing light' to Silver-Gelatin emulsions (our paint) as the painter, so photographer, these elements demand foresight to achieve a great handprint!
AI is very seductive with its ability to completely manipulate digital files. So too manufacturing the images you failed to achieve while out on location... Yes, AI is as cold as it is extraordinary!
I far prefer slow-brewing grounded coffee beans, over instant caffeinated stuff...
DEDICATION:
This collection is dedicated to my dear friend & master-printer in the art of analog photography and darkroom prowess:
Dennis da Silva...
Thank you, Baldy, it is your encouragement that leads me on, regardless!
Sincerely, Ken.
