As someone who has been involved in copywriting and editing in some form or another for a number of years, I've lost track of the number of times I've been asked what a copywriter actually does! Most people think of writers as authors, poets, journalists or even playwrights - it's easy to forget that marketing materials such as content for websites, press releases and sales letters need to be written by somebody as well! Put simply: as copywriters we write any text designed to promote or persuade.

Many business professionals don't have the time or patience to add “writing” to their long list of to-dos (as well as perhaps not having the know-how to make their copy engaging and grammatically correct.) The marketing material I mentioned in the previous paragraph is often a first point of contact with a potential client. And, as you know, first impressions count: a well-written piece demonstrates credibility and professionalism - this is where I come in.
