ABOUT
The aim for this project was to create a comfortable and casual dining space that reflected the street markets in Beijing. Draw as many elements from Beijing as much as possible for this design, also keeping a touch of Shoreditch hipster.
The focus point of the restaurant are the 25 gold bird cage lightings that hang from the ceiling. In the olden days, people lived in Beijing often raise birds at home and therefore, bird cages are seen everywhere in the city. A design that could bring an industrial look and organization along with a singular lighting effect. From the hanging elements to the lightboxes with colours and chinese characters that would draw us to a night market in Beijing. Create a stronger identity and an interior based in Mamalan’s roots.
