To create an installation set piece for the hidden spaces of the Royal Albert Hall based on the story of Madame Butterfly, which was the current production being shown at the time. Our piece, titled "999 Paper Cranes" was a collaborative project made by myself and two others, in which we created our interpretation of the main character Cio Cio San. We placed her around a sea of 999 origami paper cranes that she supposedly made over the years in the hope of reaching a 1000 and wishing for the return of her love. However, on the 999th crane her love returns with his new wife causing heartbreak for Cio Cio San, resulting in her taking her life. Royal Albert Hall collaborated with a group of students from Central Saint Martins to create set/installation/interactive pieces that were placed all over the hall in the "hidden spaces" (basement, kitchen, stairways etc) . The purpose of this was to encourage younger people to visit the RAH by taking them on a journey through the building to view the pieces and ultimately ending up in the main opera hall where the actual production of Madame Butterfly was taking place.
