Dear Sir/ Madam,
I saw your advertisement for the Writer vacancy and I am very interested in the position. I believe that I have the experience and skills necessary for the job and I am sure that I would make an excellent addition to your team.
My previous occupation was as a Web Consultant for Yell Adworks (Yellow Pages). I was responsible for consulting with customers and writing engaging and sometimes imaginative content for their websites. For this role it was important to be able to write to a high standard, perform well under pressure, build a good rapport with each customer and get projects finished on time. During my time at Yell I learnt a great deal about copy writing, but also about being assertive, working on my own initiative and I also learnt about online marketing, SEO and using social media as a form of advertising.
After 18 months at Yell, I decided that I wanted an extended break, so I terminated my employment and went backpacking in India for 3 months. Although I enjoyed my time there, I am looking to take a step up in my writing career and I am looking forward to a new challenge.
For my undergraduate degree I studied Physical Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating in 2010. During my studies I learnt a variety of writing techniques, including scientific writing for journals as well as more advertising and information based styles. I feel that what I learnt from my degree, coupled with my recent experience as a website copy writer should stand me in good stead for this position.
My last job role didn't exploit my creativity and I am looking for a role that will be varied, challenging and rewarding. My CV is attached for your attention, I hope to hear back from you soon regarding my application.
