ABOUT

In this video, I walk you through easy, low-pressure ways to fill a sketchbook using art therapy-inspired prompts and techniques. You don’t need to be “good at drawing” — this is about using creativity as a tool for reflection, emotional release, and self-care. I share ideas for overcoming blank-page fear, building a gentle creative habit, and using your sketchbook as a safe space to explore thoughts, moods and memories.

The brief was to create an accessible, supportive video that encourages people to use a sketchbook as a tool for art therapy and self-expression. The aim was to demystify the idea of a “perfect” sketchbook and instead present it as a personal, pressure-free space for creativity, reflection and emotional processing. The video needed to be welcoming to beginners and non-artists, offering practical starting points for those who feel stuck, overwhelmed or intimidated by the blank page.

The approach was gentle, informal, and process-led. Rather than teaching technical drawing skills, the focus was on simple, intuitive mark-making, prompts, and creative exercises that prioritise emotional expression over polished outcomes.

The video is paced slowly and designed to feel companionable — as if sitting down to create alongside someone. By sharing real pages and imperfect processes, the approach models vulnerability and normalises creative blocks, making it easier for viewers to begin and continue their own sketchbook practice.
