ABOUT

I finally found the time to finish my build of this Air Jordan Flight Flex trainer. I've built more complex models than this in the past but this was my very first attempt at UV unwrapping, displacement mapping and using the Sculpt tool. I've enjoyed creating this and have learnt loads of new techniques and approaches to image making in Cinema 4D.

This sole was created using displacement maps. An interesting experience building topology based only on different values of grey. For those of you that have never tried this before here are the four surfaces that make up the sole texture. The first is just the surface colour. The second is the displacement map which works in a similar way to the bump map but actually pushes the geometry out.The third is a bump map which is a lighting effect that creates an embossed look based on the light and dark areas of the image. The fourth is just an alpha mask for the white areas of the sole which has Subsurface Scattering applied to it which creates a slightly translucent look.
