ABOUT

This project concerned the design of the visual
identity of the Odéon Theater in Paris,
a historical theater which nevertheless proposes
a program with a new and modern
personality. The new identity is expressed in
the signs, alpha-numeric system and advertisement
campaign, including brochures, but
it all started with the design of the logo. It
expresses the concept of relationship between
different subjects: in this case, the letters
come together and “collaborate” to recreate
the name of the theater, just as spectators and
actors interact to give meaning to the show.
The logo also shows the aspect of the mental
processes that man applies to complete incomplete
elements, therefore referring to the
phase of imagination that makes us participate
during a theatrical staging and that requires
us to “mentally create” what the scenography
of the show can not fully reproduce. The optical
effects are therefore exploited in all the
elements that make up the communication of
the theater. The colors used for the new visual
identity are black, white and red, to visually refer
to the dark during a theater show, the lights
on the stage and the emblematic red
of the curtain.
