I was asked to create an illustration for use at a charity event that would work on a poster and on a t-shirt. The brief was relatively fluid in terms of interpretation and was to include the face of the person the charity was being held in memory of in a simplistic 1-colour illustrated stylised way. Rays were suggested to come out behind him using the colours green and yellow and font similar to that used my the Brazil football team and also including the words 'Ginger Pele'. I interpreted this to include a further colour and other football iconography for the poster version as this was to be quite large and would add some interest. I roughed-up the 'rays' so that the obvious and possibly insensitive angel references were minimised. The t-shirt version I made more simplistic so that it would work on a smaller scale and could be seen from a distance.
