About me

I should like to apply for the role of Designer (Job ref: 6825).

I am a graphic designer with several years experience in both the
private and public sectors. I have worked on a broad range of projects
and feel that I would be capable of designing book covers and imprint
branding. My IT skills are strong, having always worked with macs and
the Adobe software which forms the backbone of professional design
work. My most recent role involved designing a wide variety of
publicity material for a higher education institution; items as diverse
as business cards and invitations at one end of the scale to multi-page
prospectuses and display panels at the other. More recently this role
included the updating of a website via a content management system, and
designing interactive invitations to be delivered via the web or email.
I have worked successfully with maintaining a balance of creativity
whilst adhering to design guidelines and ensuring the consitent
application of a brand. Whilst I understand the attraction and
advantages of digital marketing, I still feel strongly about design for
print and the more tactile pleasure of holding a physical piece of
print.

I am conversant with most methods of print, digital and traditional
and am comfortable liasing with printers and production services in
order to obtain estimates, discuss production and keeping deadlines. I
am presently undertaking a proofreading course to further enhance my
skills and knowledge in this particular area.
