The Winchester Royal is part of the Best Western’s Premier Collection of hotels. The group owner approached us to redesign their website to reflect the caliber and high standards guests have come to expect from the establishment.
The original branding was dated and photography wasn’t great either, therefore we proposed a full rebrand for the hotel including everything from the logo right through to menus and interior signage. We also created a tight brief for interior and food photographer Chris Orange to create the imagery for the new site.
Before launching into the design we began with a detailed scoping phase identifying the different user personas, then mapping out the various user journeys which informed the sitemap and functional requirements.
In terms of the look and feel, the venue was very elegant therefore we set out to create a clean UI to focus the user's attention on beautiful photography, complemented by subtle animated transitions and we included incidental illustrations to add a personal touch to the wrapper of the site.
