Superestudio Buenos Aires

ABOUT

Graphic design and branding of ESPN’s International broadcast channels, designing all the elements for on-air promotion, marketing and channel identity.

We made the branding package LOUD.

An expanded custom font was designed and created to use within the branding to add stature. We envisioned motion theories to mimic sporting actions in animation. And laid out a grid design system that reflected the 7° angle in the iconic ESPN logo. All these elements combine to provide consistency, clarity and stand out for the sports brand’s multi-territory and sport offering.

The design is being rolled out across key markets in of Latin America, Africa, South East Asia & Oceania.

The key shift in this new brief was designing a system and attitude that would appeal to younger viewers, which we achieved by creating graphic icons and animations with a fresh energy and playfulness typically not associated with this sport behemoth. We also added a bright modernity through a secondary colour palette to compliment the iconic red, white and black.

A new cross-platform brand design that reflects the sports icon’s heritage of “serving the sports fan” and supports their full spectrum of sporting content in all their international territories.
