ABOUT
The Challenge
Balmaha Brewery Co started brewing craft beers at the back of the Oak Tree Inn in Scotland. A pub that won Best Pub/Bar in 2012. So they really know their stuff. The beers and ciders really took off in early 2013 so they came to us to help turn their new craft beers into a brand of their own and to help them get selling online.
They had no guidelines, no existing artwork, no brand, other than the names they wanted to use for the beers. We’d help them change all that.
Our Solution
Before we could get started on anything digital, we worked with the Fraser family to develop their brand, design their bottle labels and develop some point of sale material. We wanted to capture the best that this Scottish pub had to offer and the years of heritage behind the family. What started off as one brand quickly developed into two. The beer and cider markets are very different and appeal to very different people, so it made sense to create complementary branding.
We then worked on the two websites. Designed and built from scratch, they both run off a common base WordPress theme thats responsive and very flexible. This helped keep cost down for Balmaha Brewing Co. With the use of strong imagery, we then gave each site its own identity. The sites were then connected up to an Amazon web shop as this keeps the management of online sales simple and lets them leverage Amazons payment and delivery facilities. All this means they can focus on brewing, not on fulfilling online orders.
