Studio Folk London

ABOUT

As part of our ongoing relationship with The Ginger Pig, Studio Folk have developed a new creative direction for the interior design and retail environments for the brand. Building on the existing brand equity, and focusing on each specific location, our design concept concentrates on the heritage of the archetypal British high street butchers shop. We developed a more industrial aesthetic, marrying this with The Ginger Pig’s traditional farmhouse style, to bring the shops into a more urban context. Copper is a major theme throughout the interior, with French Grey painted wood, and 30cm square wall tiles (a supersized version of the traditional butchers shop white tile). A marbled Corian worktop with built-in wooden blocks runs around the shop and behind the copper-fronted counter. The shop front houses a state-of-the-art built-in cold room for hanging and dry-ageing meat.

The concept was brought to life by Creative Retails Solutions (CRS) and HK Interiors, who managed the shop fit and build, engineering the counters and designing the layout of the kitchen and work space along with The Ginger Pig. Thanks to HK for creating the beautiful brass logo embedded into the floor tiles at the entrance, and copper plated rails. These feature artwork by artist Gwyn Jones. And to CRS for creating the unique window cold room, which was hand built in Venice.
