ABOUT

After the devastation of Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean, Belmond invested time and efforts to lovingly restore the luxurious Belmond Cap Juluca resort on the island of Anguilla. With a re-opening of the resort during Christmas peak season, Belmond reached out to Studio Black Tomato to create a luxurious high-end online brand film starring Oscar nominated actress Naomie Harris to promote the re-launch and opening of the resort, a serene sanctuary for guests to hide away and disconnect.

From strategic research, we discovered that luxury today is less about excess and expense and more about the intangibles; the experience and emotion. Audiences today resonate with their trips away through the brand’s authentic beliefs and what they stand for.

With this insight ingrained in the overall concept, our aim in this brand film was to transport our audience to not only come away with a beautiful sense of escapism and tranquility, but to understand the hotel’s cultural opinion and beliefs that the audience can connect with through a non-stereotypical escapism lens.

Studio Black Tomato saw a unique opportunity to align Belmond’s values with Naomie Harris’ to tell a beautifully narrated story of the authentic beliefs that drive her in life, the people who inspire her daily, and why it’s important to escape and switch off in the Caribbean. The beliefs were a story told with the breathtaking beauty of Anguilla and Cap Juluca as the backdrop. The result was a visually stunning slow motion film encapsulating the beauty and nature of Naomie and Belmond.

The hero content was further brought to life through multiple high end publications including Condé Nast Traveller, Vogue UK and Belmond owned distribution across their online channels; Web, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.
