Studio Unbound was approached by a young German entrepreneur to help them bring their vision of a Better-For-You snack brand to life. They are on a mission to shake up the snacking industry and offer a healthier alternative to traditional chocolate snacks. By using a chilled product, they have managed to combine picked ripe fruit and sustainable chocolate. No additives, or GMO – just nature’s cleanest ingredients and low-calorie too, so you can enjoy these delicious snacks guilt-free.
Carrying on the idea of guilt-free, Studio Unbound took the brand back to the 70’s. It was a decade full of strikes and protests, full of radical changes alongside the contrasting feel brought by also being the decade full of those bohemian and laid-back hippy vibes. Studio Unbound wanted to capture some of those connotations and associate them with Fruya.
The hand-crafted logo takes centre stage on pack and is clearly inspired by the typography of that era with its sharp lines and chunky letterforms. This is supported by a secondary font which was widely used in design in the 70’s; and a colour palette that is a modern take on that eras popular culture clash of colours.
Keeping with that retro vibe, the packaging format is inspired by the legendary Poppet snack box with the open and close flap on the corner. The snack boxes are covered in images of the tasty chocolate snacks laid out almost like a pattern. All this combined creates a striking packaging design that ‘jumps straight off the shelf’.
Being healthy doesn’t mean depriving yourself of treats and isn’t life supposed to be about balance? Fruya’s mission is just beginning, these young innovators have big plans to further shake up the snack market and Studio Unbound are delighted to be on this journey with them.
