Following the pandemic it seems we, The Great British public, have found ourselves lacking in the sexual satisfaction department… How does one resuscitate a raunchy lifestyle?

Commissioned by Boots Health and Beauty Magazine, Studio PI illustrator Harriet Noble, produced a panoramic paper illustration that was also animated to accompany an article on The Great British Sex Slump.

Inspired by stories from three very different working women, Harriet’s illustrations make light of a situation that could in actuality be seen as quite depressing.

She said “The brief was to represent different sexual scenarios affecting the nation’s libidos, from new parents, to long distance relationships to people who are single. As the title was called the great British sex slump, through a little word association (slump, decrease, wilt, fall, decline etc) I came up with the idea of having all the characters in one scene / environment as if everyone was experiencing the same sort of issues together. I chose to use abstract shapes to represent parts of peoples homes (windows, desks, stairs) to subtly suggest some separation between everyone, as if we as viewers are getting an insight into people’s individual homes. With all of my work I like to add a little comedy and humour to it, so adding emojis and kids toys hopefully helped add to the light heartedness.”
