‘Emergence’ a fashion story by Studio PI photographer Philipp Raheem, that draws inspiration from some of the most iconic images that have been shot with flags, with the added twist of a black Union Jack to represent the diaspora of Black Brits.

The results are these powerful portraits that featured in The Sunday Times Magazine on June 20th.

Philipp says: “Emergence focuses on the awoken black mind. As a kid there were so many racist incidents that I was ignorant towards and only realised what it was as I got older. Now as we emerge through lockdown I refuse to let anyone reduce what God has put me on this Earth for because of the melanocytes that cover my body. This fashion story means so much to me especially at a time where we look at racism through a microscope. I am Nigerian & I am British and no one can take that away from me.”
