ABOUT
1800 Tequila has long been recognised for its distinctive bottle and premium approach to tequila making. For the launch of 1800 Triple Cask, the challenge was to create a new expression that could build on these established equities while communicating a richer, more complex product story within the competitive global travel retail environment.
Studio Minerva created the packaging for 1800 Triple Cask, a travel retail exclusive Añejo aged across American, French and Cabernet Sauvignon casks. The design needed to make this distinctive maturation process central to the proposition, while elevating the expression within the wider 1800 portfolio.
The iconic 1800 bottle provides the foundation, allowing the new design to feel immediately recognisable. A refined front label uses metallic detailing and a pared-back hierarchy to give the 1800 marque greater presence, while Triple Cask is positioned clearly beneath it as the defining point of difference.
Warm gold and deep red accents draw directly from the character of the aged liquid and its cask story, introducing richness and depth without overwhelming the clarity of the pack. The lower label gives greater prominence to the Añejo designation and three-cask maturation process, balancing product information with a more premium, crafted expression.
Layering becomes a distinctive feature of the design. The 1800 crest is amplified behind the label and revealed through the amber liquid, creating depth within the bottle itself, while the natural wooden closure reinforces the connection to oak and maturation.
The result is a considered evolution of the 1800 brand: familiar in its architecture, but richer and more elevated in expression. Designed to command attention within travel retail, Triple Cask transforms a complex maturation story into a clear and distinctive premium proposition, while remaining unmistakably 1800.
