ABOUT

akt supports LGBTQ+ young people (aged 16-25) experiencing homelessness or hostile home environments, helping them access secure housing, work, education, + training. They needed a WordPress website that resonated with their demographic—one that felt modern, accessible, + genuinely welcoming. Working alongside Fat Beehive, we were tasked with refreshing their digital presence to better reflect the energy + diversity of the communities they serve, while making critical support services easier to find + access.

**Approach**

We shifted away from illustration-heavy visuals towards authentic photography showcasing real LGBTQ+ young people, creating an immediate sense of belonging. The rebrand retained akt's signature purple but introduced fresh pinks + blues for a bolder, more contemporary feel. Our UX designer streamlined the site architecture—prioritising intuitive navigation + integrating live chat for direct support access. We developed clear tone of voice guidelines, then rewrote homepage content, blogs, + resource pages in a conversational style that doesn't dilute serious subject matter. Finally, we built a maintenance strategy to keep everything current + performing well, so akt's digital infrastructure can grow alongside the incredible work they do.
